How to Style Sleepwear as Streetwear
Okay, I know I’ve likely triggered many of you with the title of this post. But, in my world, leggings are pants, Christmas decorations go up before Thanksgiving, and silk PJs double as evening wear. Before you call me crazy, keep reading, and then tell me you’re not reaching for those satin jammies for your next date night lewk.
You’ve all seen the slip dress trend, which I happen to be a major fan of, have its moment, and now I’m seeing more and more satin sleep shirts and even robe-style dusters out and about. Personally I think they’re meant to be worn out, because honestly who wears something that cute to bed?
I love satin as a fabric anyway (it’s right up there with my love of velvet and faux fur), so the idea of wearing my PJs out in public wasn’t exactly a hard sell for me. There’s something so chic and luxurious about it, not to mention subtly provocative.
I bought this white satin sleep shirt you over the summer, and I styled it over camisoles and bodysuits as a satin blazer.
Recently, with the weather turning cooler, I thought it would be fun to style it with over-the-knee boots and an oversized scarf for a wintry vibe. I loved this look, and I got so many compliments when I wore it out that I know I’ll be repeating it soon!
