Afternoon Tea at The Plaza Hotel
What better way to spend a rainy day in Manhattan than by having tea at The Plaza Hotel? Truth is, I don’t need an excuse to enjoy the ritual of afternoon tea, it’s one of my favorite activities whenever we travel somewhere with great tea spots. I drink tea at home almost every day and my bridal shower was tea party themed, need I say more? I just love how…civilized the custom is, and I’m a sucker for pomp and circumstance. You might say it’s in my blood, my ancestry DNA results did show that I’m over 50% British!
Though New York City is our second home, Max and I had never had tea at The Plaza before. I was immediately drawn to the vibe of the Palm Court – the sumptuous velvet couches, the glamourous crystal chandeliers, the lush florals, the magnificent stained-glass ceiling, all bathed in a warm golden light. The restaurant was buzzing with activity, but somehow still felt quiet and intimate. My inner Eloise was grinning ear to ear!
There are a few different options for afternoon tea at The Plaza, we opted for the New Yorker tea with a few glasses of champagne, naturally. The sandwiches featured a variety of unexpected flavor combinations and the generously portioned sweets were almost too beautiful to eat. I can think of no better way to enjoy an activity dedicated to paying homage to proper manners than by stuffing my face with cakes and scones!

Perhaps next time I’ll dial it up a notch and wear a fascinator, until then – PINKIES OUT!
