Sparkly New Year’s Eve Makeup Inspo

Yesterday I shared my favorite NYE outfit ideas, but no New Year’s Eve look is complete without proper glam. Similar to how I feel about NYE attire (gimme all the sequins), I think the accompanying makeup should be bold and sparkly. I mean, ya can’t wear this makeup everyday, so leave your “me-but-better” vibes in your M-F drawer and go big or go home. I know, I know, it’s 2020 and we’re already going to be at home on NYE but you get it. I’m breaking down all the products I used to achieve this look below:

New Year's Eve Makeup Inspo

Step 1 – Prime: It’s always important to prime your makeup, and I’m constantly surprised at how many people skip this step. I prime my face with the OG Smashbox Photo Finish primer and my lips with MAC’s Prep + Prime. I have hooded eyelids, which causes the dreaded crease everytime I wear eyeshadow, so I recently ordered this eye primer by Too Faced in hopes that it’ll help. In short, don’t sleep on your primer people.

Step 2 – Foundation: I’ve been using the Tinted Face Oil Foundation by Kosas for a few months now and I love it. Don’t let the “oil” part scare you away, the finish is velvety, radiant, and feels like air. I wear shade 4 and apply with a beauty blender.

Step 3 – Highlight/Contour: I’m going to preface this with by no means am I a contouring pro, but it is nonetheless an important step. I use Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Contour Duo to contour my cheeks, under my jaw, the sides of my nose, and my temples. I lightly brush the highlighting color on my cheekbones, forehead, chin, and the bridge of my nose. I further accent the highest part of my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and my cupid’s bow with Benefit’s Cookie Highlighter

Step 4 – Brows and Eyes: I only recently started filling in my brows and wow what a difference it makes. I use Chanel’s Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Blond Clair to lightly accentuate the shape.

For the eyes I used my go-to palette for the last year, Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Exaggereyes’. I use the lightest shade (top left) on my inner lid, the darkest shade (bottom right) on my outer lid and lined under my eye, and then use the top right-most shade in the middle of my lid to blend. The hero of this entire look, though, is the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Diamond Dust. I applied this heavily starting at the inner corner of my lids and lightly feathered it out towards the middle, as well as a little bit underneath my eye. This eyeshadow also comes in other shades, like Rose Gold, if you’re going for a specific color scheme.

I also apply a little bit of the Cookie Highlighter from Step 3 to my inner corners and in the arch of my brow to make the eyes really pop.

Finish off the eyes with mascara, I use the famous Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions in Brynn. You can take this look up a notch with actual lash extensions, but I’ve never quite mastered the craft of putting them on myself. I sadly developed an allergy to professional lash extension glue a few years ago after having them forever, so just pretend I have long luscious lashes and move on to the next step.

Step 5 – Lips: I’ve been using the same products on my lips for the past several years. I sometimes switch up the top color (today I’m wearing the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss in Beige), but my base is always always the same. I use Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk to create the perfect shape and fullness every single time. You can read my post on my full lip process here.

I hope this inspires you to create a festive NYE makeup look! No matter what your plans are, I hope you have a fun and safe holiday.

As always, thank you for reading and sharing! XOXO and Happy Holidays!
