The Home Edit: Guest Room Essentials

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is just over a week away! I have been super busy preparing everything and getting ready for the big day. I’m so excited to host again this year and I am even more excited because my in-laws will be in town and staying with us!

Hosting family for the holidays is so fun, but it can also be stressful trying to get everything together prior to their arrival. Although my home is far from fully decorated (hoping to start some room reveals in the spring!), that doesn’t mean that I can’t create a comfortable guest bedroom experience for our visiting family. I’m rounding up some of my favorite guest bedroom essentials below!

If you’re hosting family like me, I hope my picks below help you get your home holiday ready! Or maybe you just want to treat yourself to some of these goodies, in which case I won’t tell. I use many of these products in our master bedroom as well which is how I know they are so great!

These Slip Silk pillowcases are amazing! I purchased one for myself earlier this year and I love it. The silk is so much better for your hair and face than standard cotton pillowcases. The Slip pillowcases are machine washable and come in a variety of colors to match any bedroom theme. Your guests will feel like they’re staying in a 5-star hotel when they sleep on these!

Everyone wants to be cozy and warm this time of year, but it’s not exactly easy to pack your fluffiest robe and slippers whenever you travel. Stock your guest room with luxuriously soft robes and slippers and your guests will immediately feel more at home. I also love this super luxe faux fur throw! It comes in 7 different colors AND is under $100! I have two of these in my home and they are so soft and look much more expensive than they actually are.

Having seasonal candles in your guest room is such a nice touch! Anthropologie is always my go-to for candles year-round, they always have the best selection of scents and styles. These ornament shaped ones are the absolute cutest and this apple spice one is my favorite scent this year. I also love this decorative one because it’s so unique!

Also, have you heard of the Homesick candle brand yet? These candles are themed around a specific state or city and have scent profiles based on their geographic location. I love the idea of buying a homesick candle for the city where your guests are traveling from as a fun reminder of home!

These are the most luxurious towels in. the. world. They take plush to a whole new level! These are the only towels I will buy and I have used them for years.

I love when a guest room has fancy soaps! The Thymes brand is my favorite. Literally all of the scents are heavenly! I love the Frasier Fir for holiday time but my all time favorite is the Eucalyptus scent. I keep these soaps in my guest rooms and powder room and everyone always comments on how wonderful they smell. They also make diffusers, candles, and room sprays!

You also can’t forget the basics when it comes to prepping your guest room. Providing an extra-long cell phone charger and extra clothes hangers is a nice touch!

A footed bed tray is a great way to gather together some of the items guests will look for first upon arrival. I like to display our WiFi password there as well as the TV remotes for their room along with instructions for how to use it. I also put a few mini water bottles and a sweet or two as a gesture of welcome!

In addition to the items I listed above, I like to make sure my guest room is fully stocked with extra toiletries and personal care items (toothpaste, disposable razors, tissues, hair dryer, Advil, etc.) in case anyone forgets anything. I also always have an Apple TV in my guest rooms so guests can have access to Netflix, Hulu, etc. late at night or early in the morning without feeling like they have to go into the living room and disturb the whole house.

I hope this guide takes a little bit of stress out of your holiday planning! If you are hosting guests this holiday, I would love to know if these items were helpful to you! As always, thank you for reading and sharing!

Happy Holidays! XOXO
