A Haunted Halloween Bar Cart
If you caught my recent post with my favorite Halloween décor, you know this is my first year decorating for Halloween. I usually go all out with my fall and Christmas decorations, but something about Halloween just always seemed a little tacky and/or gross to me. But this year on a routine Target run, I fell in love with a life-size posable skeleton and just thought, oooooh the possibilities!
I’d been itching to decorate my bar cart for fall, and I knew he’d be perfect! So, naturally, I bought him a friend to drink “boos” with, plus a few other essentials…I mean what kind of ghostly bartender doesn’t have a cauldron and a skull-shaped decanter, right?
I’m so happy with how the finished cart turned out! I think it’s such a chic and easy way to incorporate some festive October décor without being too cheesy.

TOP SHELF
On the top shelf, I knew I wanted to display my copper Moscow Mule mugs because they are the perfect fall colors. I’ve had a set of these mugs for years, but you can find a more affordable version here that come with adorable copper straws! With the mugs being so short, I added the tall decanters to give the top shelf some height. I also raised the short skull decanter on an antique-looking silver tray. My favorite part about the top shelf is my floral skull! I ordered this skull from Amazon and then used this tutorial I found on Pinterest to create the flower crown. I just love how it turned out, and every time I walk by it I think of that Friends episode where Phoebe puts the skull on the table at Christmas! The only deviation from the tutorial is that I did not use fresh flowers, I just picked out a few fall stems from Michael’s and stuck them in a small foam block et voilà!
My other favorite feature are the beaded spiders from Pottery Barn, which I just creepily used on the mirror tray and to top the mule mugs. Unfortunately, these are from last year and Pottery Barn did not restock them this season. Hopefully next year they will remake them!
MIDDLE SHELF
I decided to make the middle shelf all about the wine, particularly because I found this fantastic wine bottle holder at Target. I used my existing red wine glasses, plus I picked up some of these silicone skull wine cups from the Target dollar spot area. They were only $5 for a set of two but I have never been able to find them online. Check your local stores because they are the cutest things!
If you’ve got a bit deeper pockets than me and want to upgrade your spooky stemware, I’m absolutely obsessed with these skeletal glasses from Pottery Barn. They’re just about the most perfect Halloween-themed glasses I can imagine (so chic!), and it is my life’s mission to get them on sale at the end of the season and use them for next year.
BOTTOM SHELF
On the bottom shelf I kept it simple and decorative, because no one is reaching down that far for a beverage glass anyway! I piled up a few black pumpkins, and scattered a few more around the cart for good measure. These tiny pumpkins are another Target find, and they are just so cute and perfect for filling empty spaces.
On the other half of the shelf I put this metal cauldron, with grand plans to fill it with dry ice and water for a smoke effect. Turns out this cauldron is quite large and actually contains most of the “smoke” so you don’t quite get the cool spillover effect. I guess that’s why actual witches use cauldrons haha!
I then topped it all off with some spider web and tiny black spiders. Side note, this spider web was a challenge I was ill-prepared for. I had no idea how hard it is to delicately and deliberately use a small amount of the web! Again, my grand plan was to artfully drape it around my entire scene but I quickly learned that you do not tell the spider web where to go, it will tell you where it wants to be LOL!
